摘要：This article is the result of a comparative study between the ideas of Mircea Eliade and Viktor Frankl concerning the religious phenomenon. Through a literature review, we have analyzed the similarities and differences on their thoughts about paradigms such as the search for meaning, the center of the world, the cosmos and the chaos, the sacred place, as well as the present world situation. It is implied that in Eliade's vision there are two ways to present the mankind in the world: the sacred and the profane. And, unlike the archaic man, the modern man has desacralized the Cosmos. Frankl, on the other hand, considers that there is a repression of religiousness in our time, since the relationship with God has been constricted to the spiritual unconsciousness. We have thus concluded that the perspectives of both Eliade and Frankl are self complementary, since the former examines the religious life of the ancient man and the latter describes the existential situation of the modern man before his God.
