摘要:This paper – part of a research which one is being developed at the Environment Doctorate Program at Rio de Janeiro State University – aims to establish a close relation between prayers and the afro-Brazilian religions spatiality (which rituals are mostly done by or within the natural environment), taking as a start-point some basic concepts taken from Marcel Mauss’ work. The methodology has been built upon a comparative study between symbolic systems in ancient Greece and Rome (based on Fustel de Coulanges’, The Ancient City ) and afro-Brazilian’s ones. We shall point out as both systems are similar, in order to understand as they differs only according to their spatiality. Our hypothesis is that prayers, as a support to the efficacy intended by the supplicant, are able to create imaginary systems which one leads to a certain spatiality, which will explain the need that afro-Brazilian rituals take place by the nature.
