摘要：O artigo tem como objetivo principal retomar o debate acerca da educação popular enquanto temática e estratégia de ação relevante para o trabalho e a formação profissional do(a) assistente social. Constata-se que ao mesmo tempo em que parece ter sido submersa no debate teórico-profissional ante o refluxo dos movimentos sociais, está presente no trabalhode campo desses profissionais, sobretudo porque esse paradigma educativo visa contribuir com o processo de conscientização e mobilização dos sujeitos sociais. De modo geral, o texto apresenta reflexões teóricas que emergiram a partir de pesquisas bibliográficas acerca das produções que abordam a relação entre educação popular e serviço social, que estão em andamento desde 2011 no Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Educação Popular, Serviço Sociale Movimentos Sociais (GEPEDUPSS) da Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB). Considera-se que, na medida em que compete ao serviço social orientar indivíduos e grupos de diferentes segmentos sociais na defesa de seus direitos, a educação popular é uma importante aliada, tanto no debate político-ideológico como no técnico-operativo que se opõe à hegemonia dominante. 其他摘要：The paper main objective is to resume the debate on popular education as a theme and at the same time as an action strategy that is relevant to the job and professional training of social workers. While popular education seems to be submerged in the theoretical professional debate due to the downturn of social movements, it is present in the field work of social workers, especially because this educational paradigm aims to contribute to the process of awareness-raising and mobilization of social subjects. In general, the article develops some theoretical reflections that emerged from a survey of the literature on the relationship between popular education and social service which have been ongoing since 2011 in the Group of Study and Research on Popular Education, Social Work and Social Movements (GEPEDUPSS) at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). Insofar as it is part of the task of social work to guide individuals and groups of different social segments in the defense of their rights, popular education is an important ally both in the political and ideological debate and in technical operative debate that. oppose the dominant hegemony.Key words: popular education, social work, professional training and social mobilization.
