摘要:Several studies confirmed the leading cause of death for returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans is automobile accidents. A 2008 study conducted by the Veterans Administration (VA) indicated that returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans were “... 75 percent more likely to die in motor vehicle accidents than civilians of comparable age, race, and sex” (as cited in Globe Newspaper Company, 2009). In addition, the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) discovered “a direct correlation between the number of deployments and the rate of accidents” (24-‐7 Press Release, 2012, p. 1).
