摘要：Our aims were to find out the knowledge degrees of our women population about Breast Self Examination (BSE) and mammography as screening tools.Women aged over 18 in a Turkish population were admitted to study. A questionnaire about mammography and Breast Self Examination (BSE) was asked.306 women aged over 18 years were included to study.Performing BSE was asked and 30% of our subjects answered that they do not perform such test. When awareness of mammography was evaluated, 11.4% of our subjects answered that they do not know the test and only 38.6% of them answered that mammography screening should be started after 40s. We found a significant correlation between screening knowledge and education (p<0.05). It is obvious that breast cancer screening is an important issue for primary care units and for all health staff. Every health care providers and also patients should be educated for cancer screening.
