  • 摘要:This survey aims identify the causes of mobbing behavior experienced by teachers and principals working for primary education schools. A total of 1,316 teachers and principals including 691 men and 625 women from 21 provinces in Turkey constitute the universe of the survey. The data collection tool developed for collecting survey data have been devised by the researcher. NAQ scale was used for determining the level of mobbing behavior suffered by teachers and principals. Frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic average, standard deviation, and t-test and Anova test techniques have been used for analyzing the data. The results were tested at p<.05 level. Four different categories were analyzed to find out the root causes of mobbing witnessed in primary education schools. Those aspects were “organizational causes”, “causes related to perpetrators,” “causes related to victims,” and “causes concerning social groups.” The results of the survey demonstrated that teachers and principals working for primary education schools are exposed to mobbing in all those four categories. An analysis based on the seniority of the respondents showed a meaningful difference between different brackets of seniority in terms of causes pertaining to organization, perpetrators, and victims. People whose length of service is between 13 and 24 years suffer more mobbing than those with a length of service up to 12 years. As regards career steps, there was a meaningful difference between career steps in terms of causes related to organization and perpetrators. Specialized teachers are exposed to mobbing more than other teachers as a result of organizational causes and causes pertaining to perpetrators.
