摘要：Water has become a determining feature in the development of nations, meaning that its proper management has been a key issue in which rights of possession play a crucial role. This study analyzes the rights of possession over water that have been established in Mexico for the exploitation of this resource. It begins by describing the economic characteristics of rights of possession in general and their relation with transaction costs before going on to analyze the characteristics of Mexican legislation in this respect.
