标题:Numerical comparative analysis between age and block maintenance strategies in the presence of probability distributions with increasing failure rate
摘要:This paper presents a study for analysing two basic periodic strategies called age and block replacement policies. The aim of the study is to compare these two strategies to testify which one of them is the most beneficial to maintenance managers on the basis of minimal costs incurred as criteria’s. To provide this comparison, we propose a numerical analysis technique that allows for any combination cost/distribution to determine the best optimal strategy. Then we resume the main analytical results and we prove that a finite solution exists if the failure rate is increasing. Results show clearly that both the strategies are very close which confirms the statement of Barlow and Proschan’s theorem. The final decision of choice is subjective and makes to believe that block replacement policy is the most beneficial strategy, at least less constraining.
