摘要：800x600 By taking responsibility to maintain an attitude to society, the public university has the basic function of producing and socializing knowledge, in order to intervene in reality and enabling collective action between university and population. Accordingly, the present study aimed to describe the actions and experiences in the extension project "Initiation and sports training in Athletics", developed in-UNICENTRO Irati in 2008. Also sought to promote activities and initial training in athletics, which took the stimulus reciprocal social exchange, the experience and the reflection on the positive aspects of the sport, besides contributing to situate the University as a cultural center, sports and training the community. At the end of the school year can be seen that the project has contributed positively to the training the intern, adding her knowledge and experience to his professional life, and develop a greater knowledge of athletics in children and their experience with different situations in which explored pre-sports games or specific evidence.
