摘要:Abstract The concept of emotional intelligence has received much attention in recent years. Many scientists believe that cognitive and emotional and social parts of our brain are deeply interconnected. Due to the importance role of emotional intelligence in different aspects of life, the present study was intended to investigate the relationship between Iranian high school students’ EQ level and their level of language proficiency. To achieve this goal, two types of tests were used: Nelson test, to get to the participants level of language proficiency and EQ test to get to the participants EI level. These tests were administered to 130 high school students in Gorgan, 65 students were male and 70 students were female. After homogenizing the scores the number of participants was decrease to 84. Then correlation between EQ scores and language proficiency scores were calculated by using Pearson coefficient correlation formula. The results revealed that there was reliable and meaningful relationship between language proficiency and emotional intelligence .Besides, the relationship between students’ EQ level and their level of language proficiency was stronger in females than males.
