摘要：The main scope of the present paper is, not only to quantify, by the available data of the last agricultural census of 2000, the holdings interested to the simultaneous development in holding of the agricultural activities (these latter, however, connected with the agricultural sector), but even to analyze the relative production trends and ability, as well as the income of the production of the holding. Regarding to this, advancing that statistical information is not exhaustive of the characteristics of “multifunctional” holding, this paper intends to introduce, with opportune cautions, the phenomenon “multifunctionality” and the holdings so classified, according to the main characteristics by economic size and type in connection with some structural variables. Therefore, after a short description of the general context where the agricultural holdings work, the Author intended to treat those farm activities which, according to theory and on the basis of the available census data, contribute mainly to the definition of “multifunctional” unit, as the rural development like the whole of the other activities not agricultural but connected with the agricultural sector, stressing the agritourism and the use of agricultural machinery of the holding in the other holdings, together to the other economic and structural variables connected with the environment and the territory, as the biological agriculture, the quality products, the cultivation practices, as well as the commerce of the farm products and the use of computers in holding for e-commerce.
