摘要：The idea for this article rises up from the reading of the volume La polpa e l’osso: Manlio Rossi-Doria Writings on Agriculture Environment and Natural Resources published on the occasion of the centennial anniversary (2005) of Manlio Rossi-Doria and edited by Marcello Gorgoni. The volume is a collecion of selected writings useful to emphasize the modernity of the approach of Manlio Rossi-Doria. Tackling different problems of Italian agriculture, particularly of southern Italy, he suggested practical solutions, still actual, giving attention, at the same time, to the environment and natural resources correct use. However, Rossi-Doria, as witnessed in his numerous writings, was concerned about environment and natural resources not only in relation with agriculture or for professional interest. For this reason the article is divided into different thematic sections: land reclamation and land reform; use and planning of the territory; ecological policy. A preliminary section is devoted to a brief description of the method and contents of the professional and political commitment of this great Master.
