摘要：O texto tem como objetivo refletir sobre a origem do ensino da educação física e da arte (educação artística) na escola, considerando, para tanto, o período dos anos finais do século XIX e início do século XX. Como estas áreas foram inseridas na escola? Quando elas são chamadas a fazer parte do processo educacional? Que tensões são colocadas nesse processo? Acompanhando a reflexão de Vago (2002), como se dá o enraizamento destas áreas no espaço escolar?
