  • 摘要:This paper reviews the results of studies that investigate the effects of physical activity on bone mineral density. Being the physical activity one of the factors with influence in the bone mineral density (BMD) the determination of which sporting modalities are more related with the bone stimulation it can be indispensable for prevention and treatment of the osteoporosis. These studies conclude that the effects of exercise and sport practice in the bone metabolism result from the mechanical load applied to the skeletal structure. Better results in bone metabolism are related to higher intensities of mechanical load. Tension generated by muscular contraction during strength training presents the greatest benefits in bone remodeling. Otherwise, the strenuous exercise can bring negative results to the bone, especially in females.
