摘要：This paper attempts to answer why the application of the Darwinian Theory of Evolution to archaeology is possible and, moreover, relevant. That is, what this scientific field gains by considering the study of material culture, and by extension of cultural change, from the perspective of evolutionary thought. In this line, after explaining the main theoretical points, we develop an exposition on the application of this epistemology in our scientific area, focusing particularly on the tasks of classification and sequencing of archaeological data and thus entering into the field of Cultural Phylogenetics.
