摘要：The JAE is essential to understand and value the contributions of the exiled professors, since it laid down the course and scope of their professional trajectories. Sometimes it also determined their fates, since once in exile they benefited from the contacts established through the JAE with foreign research groups. Although in Franco's time the institution was closed, its spirit was kept alive among exiles and travelled with them to their new countries where it revived in the way of interesting institutional initiatives.
