摘要：The concept of «savage» was used in the second half of the 19th Century to denote those who stood up to the consolidation of the Argentinian State. It thus became a political concept and should be reconsidered within that framework. We shall atempt the task through the analysis of the political discourse on the Argentinian frontier (Pampa and Patagonia) as it appears in the Congressional sessions of the period 1853-1879. The said corpus will allow to observe the type of order proposed and the underlining values, as well as how the ideas about the different ways of treatment that should be applied to Indians developed over time, which ended up in the justification of the Conquest war.
