摘要：From the beginning of the colonization process, communal lands in Spanish American cities became important resources not only for economic ends but as land reserve that made it possible to cope with the population growth that took place in the second half of the 18th Century. This article analyses in the first place the origins of this system both in Europe and America. Secondly, and through the analysis of local sources it studies the case of one of the most important cities within the gobernación del Tucumán.
