摘要：The cultural distribution of time in periods is one of the problems to be solved in Menorca's prehistory. Among the topies that need to be clarified is the transition from the Pretalayotic phase to the Talayotic culture, given that this seems to indicate the begining of social complexity in the island. This process ended up with the large settlements which emerged in the centuries leadíng up to Romanization. This paper ineludes the most important documentation available on this topic and proposes some explanations for the formation of the Talayotic culture, particulary taking into account the environmental constraints and the possibly taking dominant development of an economic strategy based on livestock.
