摘要：The purpose of this essay consists of showing the importance of the concept of freedom within the phylosophical project of Michel Foucault. Before starting a question rises up: to which extent did Michel Foucault, a specialist in the relations of power and the subject, has thought about the matter of freedom. Or in other words, the question consists of investigating in which way did Foucault present the freedom as a philosophical problem. Our main hypothesis is that exactly within the analysis of the relations of power we find a way of thinking the matter of freedom. Therefore, the objective is showing how does this take place. Or in other words, the question consists of investigating in which way did Foucault present the freedom as a philosophical problem.To ellaborate this point it is important realizing two things. On one side, to reconstruct the concept of liberty and, on the other, to show the extent in which this concept helps us to keep the link between ethics and politics within the thoughts of Foucault.
