摘要：It is generally believed that the entire body of pastoral novels is characterized by idyllic scenery of harmony and peace. However, this is not always the case. Some of the texts that have reached the modern reader bear various manifestations of violence, which can take the form of self-aggression (i.e. suicide), aggression towards others (i.e. murder) or of descriptions of aggressive nature depicting monstrous characters and wild beasts. It is the analysis of such episodes that is the purpose of this article.
