摘要:The ideas that formed the thought and social practice of Mary Richmond are examined here. Special focus is placed on two markers that defined her times: the scientific impulse on the one hand and the altruistic impulse on the other. We ask ourselves what were Mary Richmond’s answers to the dominant public philosophy; from those we derive some reflections that may be useful in the present, especially the ones concerning faith in science as the incontrovertible answer to human problems.
