摘要：La Salud Mental (SM) constituye un objeto de discursos y prácticas científicas y un objeto de Representación Social (RS) que da lugar a un conjunto de saberes provenientes del sentido común socialmente elaborados, compartidos y diferenciados. En el presente artículo se exploran las RS sobre SM construidas por profesionales que trabajan en el campo de la SM en la ciudad de Medellín, Colombia. Se realizó un análisis prototípico y categorial a partir de la evocación libre de palabras, teniendo como término inductor “Salud Mental”. Participaron 117 profesionales incluyendo psicólogos, psiquiatras, trabajadores sociales y médicos. En el análisis prototípico se identificaron las palabras “equilibrio y estabilidad” como constitutivas del núcleo central de la representación y en el categorial emergieron tres categorías: dimensiones de la SM, perspectivas de la SM e intervenciones. Los hallazgos ratifican las imbricadas relaciones entre el conocimiento científico y el conocimiento lego en torno a la SM, incluso en los profesionales que trabajan en este campo, lo cual permite afirmar el trasfondo ideológico y de sentido común que subyace a los discursos y prácticas sobre SM en el ámbito del saber experto. Abstract The Mental Health (MH) consists in an object of discourses and scientific practices and also, it is an object of Social Representation (SR) which results in a set of knowledge that comes from an elaborated and differentiated social sense. In this paper the SR about mental health built by professionals working in the field of (MH) in Medellin, Colombia are explored. A prototypical and categorical analysis was performed based on free word association with an inductive term "Mental Health". 117 professionals including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and medical professionals participated in the study. The prototype analysis identified the words "balance and stability" as the core of representation. In the categorical analysis, three categories emerged: mental health dimension, perspective and interventions. The findings confirmed the imbricated relation between scientific and lay knowledge about the MH, even in the case of professionals working in this field, involving the ideological background and common sense of discourses and practices of MH in the field of expert knowledge.
