摘要：Independiente de la controversia que genera la temática, hablar de evidencia científica en el cuidado de enfermería implica referirse a la producción científica en enfermería y a la aplicación de sus resultados en el desempeño profesional. Es imposible desconocer la contribución que la práctica basada en evidencia ha realizado al auge actual de la investigación y a su papel preponderante en el desarollo y legitimización de las disciplinas. En este artículo se revisan tanto los antecedentes de este movimiento que ha polarizado las posiciones acerca de la práctica basada en evidencia como los pasos para aplicar la evidencia en la práctica, a partir de preguntas que surgen desde nuestros campos de desempeño y de las etapas del proceso de atención de enfermería. Igualmente, se plantean algunas condiciones o factores que limitan o favorecen la aplicación de la evidencia en la práctica profesional y los desafios que tenemos como profesionales y formadores de recurso humano de alta calidad, en el desarrollo de las competencias requeridas para implementar los hallazgos de nuestra producción investigativa y la de otros profesionales. ABSTRACTStepping aside from the controversy raised by this subject, talking about scientific evidence in nursing care, implies to talk about scientific production in nursing and of its applications in the professional exercise. It is impossible to ignore the contribution that evidence-based practice has done to the contemporary medical research and its growing importance roll in the development and legitimization of medical disciplines. In this paper we make a review of the antecedents of this movement that causes the polarization of the subject in study, the steps to apply the evidence in the professional practice and the challenges that we have in the development of new skills required for the implementations of evidence given by our scientific research production and from the other professionals.
