摘要：The article deals with democratic risks and opportunities of european integration. The analysis about the democratic deficit will be counterbalanced by the reflection on the perspectives of democratization of european governance, in a deliberative and cosmopolitan direction. A sociological analysis of the future of european democracy takes in account both the institutional and the cultural dimensions of democracy. The democratic self-constitution of Europe depends on the mobilization of conflict and on the development of a transnational debate. Following this theoretical perspective, the article analyzes the europeanization of national public sphere and the constitution of a transnational public sphere.
