摘要：“Rio femme – mulher Rio�? propõe refletir sobre um conjunto de representações em torno da relação entre a cidade e a mulher burguesa carioca que desponta com a modernização do espaço urbano, no início do século XX. Neste contexto, evocamos uma mulher que emerge quase que em justaposição à cidade moderna e se confronta com a ascensão da cultura de consumo que surge com esta mesma modernidade. ABSTRACT “Rio femme – mulher Rio�? is a reflection upon a series of representations illustrating the relationship between the city of Rio de Janeiro and the women of the carioca bourgeoisie who emerged, together with the process of modernisation of urban space in the then-capital of Brazil, at the start of the 20th-century. In this context, we evoke a woman who emerges almost in juxtaposition to the modern city and is immediately confronted with the rise of a culture of consumerism that surges together with this very modernity.
