摘要：O presente artigo analisa a construção das primeiras escolas públicas da cidade de Londrina, no Paraná, na primeira metade do século XX. Objetivamos analisar a ligação entre as alterações no edifício escolar, as mudanças pedagógicas e a busca pelo progresso. Para isso, utilizamos o conceito de representação, buscando entender a importância simbólica da arquitetura escolar. A partir das informações levantadas é possível compreender que o primeiro grupo escolar representa a materialização da modernidade pretendida na época. O estilo arquitetônico Art Déco , comum no período, com suas formas geométricas, demonstra o desejo pela racionalidade, presente também no pensamento pedagógico da época. No entanto, foram percebidas contradições entre o discurso que defendia o progresso e a civilização por meio da escola e as condições concretas dos espaços escolares. Paralelamente, conclui-se que a constituição dos edifícios escolares ocorre nos limites tensos entre as tendências que alteram o contexto escolar e aquelas que persistem, apesar das alterações ao longo do tempo.
其他摘要：This paper analyzes the construction of the first public schools from Londrina, on Paraná, in the first half of the 20th century. Our objective is to analyze the connection between the changes in the school building, the pedagogical changes and the search for progress. For that, we will use the concept of representation, seeking to understand the symbolic importance of the school architecture. Through the information found it's possible to comprehend that the first scholar group represents the materialization of the modernity intended at the time. The Art Déco architectonic style, common at the time, with its geometric forms, shows the desire for rationality, also present in the pedagogical thinking at the time. However, it was noticed contraditions between the speech that defended the progress and the civilization through school and the real conditions of the school space. At the same time, it was concluded that the constitution of the school building happen on the tension limits between tendencies that change the scholar context and those that persist, although the changes through time.
