摘要：This article aims to discuss the key notions of interest in Brazil, especially those developed byauthors in education. Discuss this concept is relevant not only to retrieve ithistorically, but to restore the hypothesis that the interest is not a natural attributeof the student, nor should its opposite, the lack of interest, serve as a finalexplanation, which often launches to hand in education today, to justify schoolfailure. To achieve the goal of highlighting the main concepts of the interest spreadin Brazil, sought to works of authors who wrote about this concept, theorizing ordefending its relevance to education. With this procedure, were identified as thefrequently mentioned concepts and theories attributed to the following authors:Johan Friedrich Herbart, John Dewey, Edoaurd Claparède, Edward Lee Thorndikeand Albert Gates, Ovide Decroly. The concept of interest, according to theperspectives presented, is seen as an element of the relationship between subjectand object, while it is interpreted in different ways. The purpose of this paper is toinsist on the relevance to recover the concept of interest to educational studies,because of the diversity it brings in the educational field.
