摘要：Resumo: nos tempos modernos o conceito de família tem assumido definições que nem sempre se encaixam na vivência de cada um sobre esta instituição. Se para uns, família é um conceito que está em desuso, para outros, falar de família é algo muito actual, uma vez que é necessário perceber a dimensão social, económica, política e cultural de tão significativa instituição. São vários os desafios que as famílias no século xxi atravessam. a crise de volores que tanto se fala é quadjuvada por diferentes crises, que todos os dias nos entram casa a dentro através dos meios de comunicação social. De maneira geral, a migração provém da necessidade de sair do meio em que se nasceu para realizar aquilo que se compreende ser impossível nesse meio. no caso limite, tratase de sobreviver. Para lá disto, encontra-se todas as esperanças e ilusões de homens insatisfeitos. A escola é para as famílias um espaço priviligiado de troca de saberes. As famílias, enfrentam contudo, alguns problemas nos dias de hoje. O desemprego e o emprego precário, têm sido factores de que atentam à continuidade das famílias. Neste espaço lusófono, no qual as famílias africanas, têm aumentado significativamente, é necessário criar condições para que estas famílias se sintam integradas no país acolhedor. portugal é um país que tem sabido acolher outros povos, em especial africanos. mas se a língua portuguesa é um factor que facilita esta integração, facto é, que isto só não chega. É necessário ir mais longe, criar formas de integração económica, social e cultural. Abstract: in modern times, the concept of family has been defined in terms that do not always fit in the life of this institution. If for some the concept of family is falling into disuse, for others speaking of the family is very present, since it is necessary to understand the social, economical, political and cultural dimension of such an institution. Various challenges are faced by families of the xxi century. The value crisis of which so much is said is amplified by diferent crisis which everyday enter our homes through the media. In general, migration comes of necessity to leave one’s birthplace in order to accomplish something not possible in that environment. At a limit it is a question of survival. Beyond this, one finds all hopes and illusions of unsatisfied men. The school is an ideal place for families to trade knowledge. Families face however some problems at present, such as unemployment and insecure jobs, which are factors that place pressure on their continuity. In the lusófono space, in which african families have grown significantly, it is of utmost importance to create conditions to integrate these families in the welcoming country. portugal has learned to accept other peoples, particularly africans, but although the Portuguese language is a facilitating factor, by itself, it is not enough. It is necessary to go further and create ways to integrate economically socially and culturally.
