摘要：O trabalho ora apresentado é parte de pesquisa mais ampla sobre o uso de drogas ilícitas na cidade de Londrina. O universo aqui estudado é constituído por 722 jovens atendidos por instituições e programas sociais públicos. O objetivo principal da pesquisa é o conhecimento dos fatores de vulnerabilidade que colocam os jovens em risco de drogadicção. A metodologia incluiu as abordagens quantitativa e qualitativa. A coleta de dados foi realizada através da aplicação de um questionário com questões fechadas e abertas. As questões fechadas levantaram dados quantitativos relacionados ao perfil e ao uso de drogas. As questões abertas, ainda em processo de análise, deverão trazer contextos, práticas, motivações e significados de seu uso. Neste texto serão apresentados os resultados referentes aos dados quantitativos, quais sejam, informações sociodemográficas sobre o total do universo pesquisado; padrões e circunstâncias de uso de drogas pelos jovens que relataram seu uso; motivos que os levaram a experimentar a droga; associação entre o consumo de drogas e problemas dele decorrentes; uso de drogas injetáveis; e receptividade com relação à possibilidade de tratamento de dependência química. As conclusões evidenciam que uma correta avaliação da extensão do problema possibilitará a elaboração de programas preventivos e terapêuticos mais adequados e eficazes.

Seven hundred and twenty two youngsters assisted by public social institutions and programs form the universe studied here. The main objective of this research is to understand the vulnerability factors which put the youngsters at risk to the drug addiction. The methodology has included the quantitative and the qualitative approaches. The data collection was carried out by means of a questionnaire with multiple-choise and open-ended questions. The multiple choise questions brought quantitative data related to the profile and the use of drugs. The openended ones, still to be analyzed, might bring contexts, practices, motivation and meanings related to the use of drugs. This text will present the results related to the quantitative data, i.e., social demographic information about all the researched universe; patterns and circumstances of the use drugs by those who have reported it; the reasons which have led them to experiment the drug; the existing association between the use of drugs and their related problems; the use of injectable drugs and receptivity concerning the possibility of treatment for chemical dependency. The conclusions point out that a correct evaluation about the extension of the problem will allow more effective preventive and therapeutic programs.
