摘要:In the 1858-1872 period, a group of lawyers who met in the gathering of El Mosaico processed all the material collected by the Geographic expedition that had taken place between 1851 and 1859 and which was lead by the Italian geographer Agustín Codazzi and made an overview of the Nation as a country made up of regions or areas. This picture got transmitted through the local customs. At the same time, José María Vergara y Vergara, co-founder of the gathering wrote the first history about the literature of Nueva Granada which is the basis for a new evaluation of the Hispanic colonial past. Both the regional vision of the local customs and the Hispanic-Catholic view by Vergara y Vergara showed to be the basic elements for the National unification which was consolidated under a conservative ideology since 1880.
