摘要:Tolerance and hospitality are analysed as two dimensions in which the acceptance of difference operates in a political society (the first one, internal to it, the second one, external). Both are suggested to stem from, and to reinforce, experiences of reflective self-strangeness that lie in the heart of modernity. This article forwards an analysis of the internal logic –demands and restrictions– of these two dimensions and some ways in which their demands –at the epistemic, normative and political levels– intertwine in an era of globalization.
