摘要：This article aims to highlight the current relevance of leisure, emphasizing its transformations in contemporary society, and tackling a specific aspect of the leisure phenomenom, its festive dimension. The first section is related to the analysis of the festive leisure experience and the change in perception of cellebrations during its three stages: preparation, development and memory. The second section is focused on cellebrations as spaces for citizen participation, where human diversity is considered as a feature of the modern societies; on inclusion and access difficulties of disabled people; and finally on the developed work from City Council of Bilbao in order to manage cellebrations for all the people. The chapter is closed with a final thinking which gathers new ways to understand cellebrations and some of its challenges.
