摘要:This paper describes how eight social work graduates from St. Thomas University, accompaniedby an instructor, met together for two years to support each other in the transition from studentto qualified social worker. During their first few months all graduates found differences betweenthe world of social work as described in the classroom and the challenges of paid employment.The way that group processes assisted in bridging the gap between university and social work isexplored. The author suggests implications for facilitating the transition from undergraduatestudent to the workplace that may be relevant for social work and also for other professions anddisciplines.
