摘要:The National Library of Australia has an extensive collection of printed music, both overseas and Australian, available for research purposes. The main focus of the collection is Australian composers, lyricists, editors and publishers.Glimpses into the history and social fabric of Australia can be obtained through the printed songs and music used from it’s beginning through to the present time and this is reflected in the types and topics of music held in the Library’s music collection. To provide efficient access to this material the collection required cataloguing. This cataloguing and control of the music collection has increased the use of the collection from many different aspects and has had an impact on future music acquisitions. Now and in the future the National Library’s comprehensive music collection will be a rich resource for researches.
