摘要:In May 2004, the National Library of Australia held a Visual Arts Forum, largely in response to concerns raised by members of the arts libraries society in Australia and New Zealand, ARLIS/ANZ. Many of these concerns may be shared by members of ARLIS/NA. They include a need for a good directory of arts libraries, a need for better access to the hidden resources of arts libraries such as vertical files, and a general feeling that the constraints inherent in being a small library with a small budget were preventing arts libraries from realising much of the promise of new technology, specifically the promise of the Internet and digitisation. The Visual Arts Forum took the form of a one-day meeting with over 40 attendees from ARLIS/ANZ libraries, the National Library and other stakeholders such as the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools. It is now two years since the Forum, and a good time to assess its outcomes.
