Not just forindividuals, but also for the organization or group. Computerization can help insolving problems. Computerization has facilities - facilities such as software andhardware builders. In order to use a computer must use an operating system therein.There are various kinds of operating systems, such products - products fromWindows, Linux and Mac. Basically, the operating system has the same functions andparts. What distinguishes the advantages and disadvantages of each - each in usabilityand design looks. For example, Windows XP is easy to access applications, LinuxRedHat has an extra strong in its Internet network. The operating system also are oftwo kinds, open source and licensed. Examples of open source oparesi system isUbuntu Linux. And example of a licensed operating system is Windows Vista. Theauthor aims to analyze application usage between the two operating systems namelyWindows Vista and Ubuntu Linux as its use in the performance comparison on anorganizational institution. In this writing takes the Department of National Defence asa place to conduct research / analysis. We will see the effects of both the operatingsystem in the development of performance in DoD. From the results of this analysiswill be known advantages and disadvantages of each - each operating system in termsof their use of functions within an organization whether beneficial or detrimental. Theresult will be a graph obtained from the results of a questionnaire distributed toemployees in the Department of Defense and interviews. And other reports thatreinforce the results of this analysis. The tools used to create applications that thispaper is Matlab 7:04.
