摘要：Novel is a kind of literature that gives us knowledge and pleasure. Novel is animaginary work in prose of a considerable length, which presents as real certaincharacters living in a given environment and describes their attitudes, fate, andadventures. The writer is interested in writing this research paper because thewriter thinks that the novel is extraordinary. The aim of this research paper is tofind out more details about the characters of Rudy Baylor in The Rainmakernovel and the writer limits the problem of study on the characters of RudyBaylor by using a sociological aspect. In this research paper, the writer usesThe Rainmaker novel written by John Grisham as the main data. Beforeanalyzing, the writer reads the novel and focuses on the subject that the writergoing to discuss. After reading the novel, the writer analyzes Rudy Baylorscharacters by a using a sociological aspect. The writer does library research atNational library and Faculty of Cultural Study in University of Indonesia. Thewriter also uses the Internet facilities in collecting data to support the analysis ofthe characters. The result of this research paper shows that there are three kindsof Rudy Baylors characters. Three characters of Rudy Baylor are helpfulness,care and friendliness. From the characters of Rudy Baylor, we must reallyconsider that as human beings cant live alone. Beside that, we must helptogether and likes to care people in our society.
