APIpolicy formulated to create a feasible banking system, strong and efficient. Thefeasibility level of bank can be assessed using several indicators. Capitaladequacy, liquidity, and profitability ratios are common benchmarks used inassessing bank performance. This study aims to determine the differences of theperformance of regional development banks (BPD) and national private(non-foreign exchange and foreign exchange) bank during the before and afterimplementation of the API in January 2004 time frame based on the nonperforming loans (NPLs), capital adequacy (CAR), and profitability with ROA,and BOPO respectively as their proxies. In addition, this study also comparedthe performance between the three groups of banks. The method of analysisused in this research is descriptive statistics and inferential statistics whichconsist of two paired Sample T test, and One Way ANOVA. The research showsthe performance of BPD and Private banks are not significantly different at theCAR ratio. This is probably because BPD capitalized by the government. TheBOPO NPL and improved ratios between BPD and BUSN (non foreignexchange and foreign exchange private banks) are significantly different. Theperformance of BUSN are not significantly different before and after theimplementation the Indonesian Banking Architecture. The study affirms that theperformance of BPD, BUSN BUSN are not significantly different in terms ofROA ratio, except for the year 2006. As forNPL differs between banks andBOPO differ in the time before the implementation of the API (2004) but forafterwards reveals insignificant differences.
