摘要：In this study, An Error Analysis on Translating the Word Have intoIndonesian, the writer whishes to find out the students errors on the EnglishWord have. The purposes of this study are to identify the understanding of thestudents in translating the word have into Indonesian and the problem faced bythe students. The subject of the study is the third year students, Faculty ofLetters Gunadarma University (year 2005). The numbers of population are 40students. The samples taken are 15 students and the technique employed ispurposive random sampling. Based on the analysis, the understandings of thestudents in translating the word have Into Indonesian are good, especially whenthey translated the word have that has function as the auxiliary of perfect tenseand full verbs. On the other hand, they have weak understanding in translatingthe word have that has function as modal auxiliary and causative verb. And theunderstandings of the students overall are categorized into grade D (Belowaverage or Poor). The problem faced by the students in translating the wordhave into Indonesian is they do not know the functions of the word have,especially, when the word have functions as modal auxiliary and causative verb.
