  • 摘要:The aims of the study of this research are: (1). To find out the technique ofteaching vocabulary using FAIES method; (2). To find out the technique ofteaching vocabulary using Grammar translation method; (3). To know whichmethod is more effective to teach vocabulary. In this research the writer uses aquantitative method. Quantitative method in this research is reporting the resultof the test that given by the teacher, after teaching English vocabulary by usingFAIES and Grammar translation method. And also the writer did theobservation. The writer draw 3 conclusions, they are; (1) In FAIES method theteacher can not give the meaning directly when the students ask about avocabulary. The students can not ask whole difficult word. They can only ask afew words; (2). In Grammar translation method the teacher can give themeaning of the vocabulary directly. The students can also ask entire wordwhich they do not understand; (3) The result of the t-test is 1,723 . Andobservation test the result is 2,613. That result shows the observation test (to) ishigher than the t-test (tt).Since to is always higher than tt so alternativehypothesis (Hi) is accepted meanwhile zero hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. Itmeans that the studentÂs achievement in learning and memorizing vocabularyusing FAIES method is higher than using Grammar translation method.
