摘要：Translation plays an essential role in the process of shifting information fromone language into another language. The writer focuses on the translation ofEnglish Definite and Indefinite Articles into Indonesian, which the sourcelanguage text is taken from the article on thewww.completetranslation.com/principles.htm. The writer makes a choice onlyin the translation of English Definite and Indefinite Articles because manystudents still run into difficulty to translate them from the source language(English), and find the equivalent meanings based on the principles or rules ofthe target language (Indonesian). In this translation research paper, the writerwould like to achieve three objectives of the study. They are to come across thedifferences and the similarities in translating English Definite and IndefiniteArticles into Indonesian, to come across the problems in translating EnglishDefinite and Indefinite Articles into Indonesian. The results of this translationresearch paper are divided into the differences and the similarities of the SourceLanguage (English) and the Target Language (Indonesian). The differences arein the word class and positional differences. Meanwhile, the similarities are intranslating English Articles, they do not always to be translated into Indonesianand also from the position of the translation of English Indefinite Article, eitherbefore or after the translation, it has same position in the initial of the noun.
