摘要：In analyzing characters in a novel, psychological approach is related to humanbehavior, attitude and also the mind of the character. A psychological factor isthe main cause of the character personality; this factor can be anything such asone comes from the broken family, betrayal, lost something or someone who she/ he loves, trauma in her childhood which can cause depression in her life. Mostpeople with depression can be helped with treatment, but many depressedpeople never get the help they need. The problems identified in this researchwere: What the psychological factors that influence the main character in theDanielle Steel novel Accident? What are the relationship between individualattitude and environment (social life) with the psychological condition of themain character? The objectives of the study were: to describe the psychologicalfactors that influence the main character in Danielle Steel novel, and to describethe relationship between individual attitude and environment (social life) withthe psychological condition of the main character. This research uses qualitativemethod, which describes the data. It will help the readers to understandpsychological factors that influence the main character in the novel. Data aretaken from library research at Gunadarma University library, National library,UI library and field research to complete the accomplishment of the scientificresearch paper. In library research, the writer used some books which wererelated to the topic to help the writer in finding theories about the psychologicalfactors. The writer also browsed theories from internet to add theories besidefrom the books. By using a psychological approach, the writer expected to get toknow the personality of a character that wants to be analyzed. But before weanalyzed the personality of a character, the writer must know the background ofmain character that influences her personality with the whole of novel.
