摘要:This thesis entitled Strategies of Five Successful EFL Learners in LearningEnglish Vocabulary, is a study about how EFL Learners develop, improve andmaintain their English vocabulary. The aim of this study is to find out thelearning strategies used by the five EFL learners to develop, improve andmaintain their English vocabulary. The strategies consist of meta-cognitive,cognitive and social mediation/ affective. The subjects were five EFL learners ofGunadarma University. The subject were picked out by the researcher becausethey have ability in English and have GPA of >3, 00 and have TOEFLEquivalent score of > 500. The instrument used to collect data was the interviewguide. In addition, in-depth interview was conducted to discover detailinformation from the subject. The subjects were asked to tell their strategies indeveloping, improving, and maintaining their English vocabulary. The result ofthis study shows that English learners have consciously done certain strategiesduring their process of learning L2 to develop, improve, and maintain theirEnglish vocabulary. Suggestion proposed on the basis of the result anddiscussion are addressed to English for language teaching practitioners as wellas. To other researchers who wish to pursue related topics in further research.These suggestions concern the importance of giving information about learningstrategies used by five EFL learners to their students. In addition, it is alsonecessary to conduct a further action research on training the use ofmeta-cognitive strategies, cognitive strategies, and social/ affective strategies.
