摘要：Novel can represent human life and could be their inspiration who has read it. Basically, novel isa media to share what author’s wants to write or feel. A novel consists of many stories. They areabout friendship, love, tragedy, mystery, murder, comedy and so on. Aims of the study are todescribe kinds of conflict and to describe kinds of setting that occurred in the novel entitled Deckthe Halls. The method that was used by the writer in this study is qualitative method. The sourceof data is a novel entitled Deck the Halls and the novel is treated as a primary data. Result of thisstudy shows that setting and conflict are divided into different aspects and different definition.The conflict is divided into two kinds; there are social conflict and psychic conflict. Meanwhile,setting is divided into five kinds, there are setting of time, setting of place, setting of tools,setting of environment existence and setting of system social existence.
