摘要：Translation is very important for the process of exchanging information and theresult of its invention. Without translating people cannot understand what peopletalking about or what is written in the books. In translating we can understandthe process of it. The aim of this paper to translate short story and to describe intranslating from English into Indonesia. The article entitled The Sign of Four,tells about the Sherlock Holmes the most famous private detective in London.He helped to solve crimes and catch criminals. When people were in trouble orneeded help, they came to Holmes. Sometimes the police came. Sometimes thepolice came to Holmes and ask for help in catching a criminal. Holmes and askfor help in Sherlock Holmes didnt care if his client were rich or poor. Heenjoyed solving their interesting problems. He was very happy when he wasworking. It was the most important thing in his life. From this study, the writerconcludes that there are some problems in translating an article. The writer usesdictionaries, grammatical textbooks, and internet in order to solve the problems.Besides, it makes the writer more understand how to translate an article andmake in clever and understandable. The writer hopes that this research can be aguideline for readers, especially translators in translating either it is in article ora book. Key Words: Translation, short story, Article
