摘要:In this study, An Error Analysis of Passive Mastery (a case study at third yearstudents, Faculty of Letters of Gunadarma University), the writer wishes tofind out the students errors in Passive sentence. The purposes of this study areto identify the understanding of the students in changing the active sentencesinto passive sentences and the problems are faced by the students. The subjectof this study is the third year students, Faculty of Letters of GunadarmaUniversity (year 2004). The numbers of the population are 85 students. Thesamples taken are 36 students and the technique employed is quantitativemethod which contains of numbers of errors and makes a conclusion from thedata. Based on the analysis, the understandings of the students of passive arefailing or unsatisfactory according to the theory of Johnson, Measurement andEvaluation, 1987:376. The problems are faced by the students in changing activeinto passive sentences in different tenses are they do not know the pattern ofpassive properly and also they still weak in tenses.
