摘要：A Descriptive Analysis on the Functions of Present Participle on Jakarta Post, ischosen by the writer. The writer would like to know what the functions ofpresent participle and wuld like to see what the functions of present participleis used in newspapers.The problems of this research are: what are the theFunctions of Present Participle? and what are the Functions of PresentParticiple used in newspapers?. The aims of this research are to describe theFunctions of Present Participle and to find out what the Functions are used innewspapers. The writer uses the Qualitative Descriptive method and JakartaPost as the source of the data. From the analysis, it can be concluded thatPresent Participle has three functions. There are as an adjective, as a verb, and asa gerund. The writer took 100 data of the functions in Jakarta Post. Of the threefunctions: 1) as a verb 56 sentences or 56%, 2) as an adjective 16 sentences or16%, and 3) as a gerund 28 sentences or 28%. The writer hopes this researchcould be used as considerable and useful matter in helping the readers in knowthe Functions of Present Participle
