摘要：ABSTRACT :Novel is one of fiction types, which is called by cerita rekaan. It is a story withcomplex atmosphere and background. It also adopts the real social life,containing the sadness, happiness, tragedy, that happened to all mankind.Cheaper By The Dozen is a novel about a big family that is closed to each otherof the family member. How the super large family with loving parents were abit eccentric and very funny to manage their dozen children with their differentcharacteristics. This novel had also been written by member of the family itself.Cheaper By The Dozen is heartwarming story based on the true which is funnyand good for any age. The aim of this research is conducted in order to helpthose who cannot understand English text. The source of the data is Cheaper ByThe Dozen novel written by Frank B. Gilbreth JR. and Ernestine GilbrethCarey, New York: Harper Torch, 2003. The methods used are reading thenovel, identified difficult word/idiomatic expression, grammatical structure,cultural context, situation context and searching the meaning of the difficultiesin different paper, to find and solve the problem in translating, by consultingwith idiomatic dictionary, consulting with my advisor and some translationtheories
