摘要：In Indonesia, English as foreign language is important to communicate withpeople among the world. Many course institutions are established in every cityin Indonesia, because not many people in Indonesia can speak English well.There are some kinds of elements that support in learning English. Preposition ispart of grammar that include of those elements. The problem of this research is:what are the uses of preposition? The writer uses qualitative method as themethod of research. The aim of this research is to find out the uses ofpreposition "to" in each sentence from the novel by Sandra Brown. As the resultof this research the writer found 74 sentences that contain of preposition in thenovel. Preposition indicates orientation toward a physical goal (30 sentences),preposition as an ordinary preposition with verb of communication (6sentences), preposition as an ordinary preposition with verb of movement (6sentences), preposition create an infinitive (30 sentences), and gerund afterpreposition. (2 sentences).
